What is LE software?

LE “Limited Edition” software aren’t demos, as they don’t have a time limit. However, they can be sold & used only with the hardware it was bundled with. Features of any MixVibes LE product are defined with the engineers and the marketing of the product sold in the bundle.

CROSS LE: MixVibes U46MK2 soundcard is sold alone with CROSS LE. The U46MK2 needs to be plugged in or the software won’t launch. Also, vinyl and CD control are disabled.

CROSS DJ LE: MixVibes U-MIX Control, MixVibes U-MIX Control 2, MixVibes U-MIX44 and partners controllers bundled with CROSS DJ LE. The controllers need to be plugged in or the software won’t launch. Also, MIDI learning is disabled.

DVS LE: MixVibes U-MIX 44 soundcard bundled with DVS LE. The U-MIX 44 needs to be plugged in or the software won’t launch. Also, vinyl and CD control are limited to one deck.

3DEX LE: MixVibes U-MIX Control controller bundled with Mixvibes 3DEX LE. The controller needs to be plugged in or the software won’t launch.

What is the purpose of a Limited Edition?

Limited Editions are a less-expensive way to discover and use most important features of an hardware that couldn’t work without the help of the soft in bundle. Upgrades to the full versions can be bought online at a discounted price.

Your serial number authorizes the MixVibes software on a maximum of two (2) computers.

To download the latest version of your MixVibes software, you will need to be registered on the MixVibes Forum.

To register:

- Go to our forum
- Click on “Register” on the “Board Index” sidebar
- Read the terms and click on “I agree to the terms”
- Fill out your profile with your username, valid e-mail address, and password
- IMPORTANT: You will need your software license key to complete the registration (written on the back of your installation CD sleeve)
 

 - You will receive an e-mail with an activation link to complete registration

To download/install:

- Go to the Download Center
- Select your version of MixVibes and find the latest update
- Click the “download” button near the bottom of the page
- Once the download is finished, extract the folder and run the .exe or .dmg file
- The update will overwrite your current version

We recommend keeping your licence key (which is printed on the back of the installation CD sleeve) by registering on the forum, and entering it in the space provided.

We can't provide additionnal licence keys.

1. Hook both cdj players to the computer and put them to PC mode

2. Change the midi channel setting on both decks : left deck on channel 1 (default setting) and right deck on channel 2

Go to [Applications>Utilities>Audio-midi], click on +

Everything now should be working. If the decks are inverted you can try those : inverting usb port, the deck on your bench or the outputs routing.

1. Go to [File > Preferences > Vinyl/CD]

2. Check Left/Right Control Deck to enable the external control

3. Select the Control Media that you will be using: MV vinyl, MV CD or 7” MV vinyl

4. Start playback of the control records making sure that the pitch is set to zero on your decks and the playback direction is forward. If your decks have a Master Tempo function or any on-board effects, make sure they are also disabled as those will interfere with the calibration, and with the time code in general

5. Click the ’Calibrate’ buttons. Once proper calibration is achieved, the calibration graphs will output rings similar to the ones shown in figure above. Check that the percentage of the time code quality is close to 100% when your system is calibrated properly

6. Close the Preferences window

7. Select which deck will control which player by clicking on the A or B deck selector in the Head-Up Display directly above each deck. A vertical time code quality meter is located between the deck selector and the record icon. This gives you a visual indication of the time code quality during playback. Time code quality can be affected by improper connections, bad grounding, or if any effects or Master Tempo are active on the deck playing back the time code.

1. Connect the outputs of your decks (vinyl or CD) to the inputs of your audio interface

2. Connect the outputs of your audio interface to the line inputs of your mixer

3. We recommend not to use any external phono preamp (i.e. featuring RIAA correction) for the vinyl control input. You must let CROSS deal with the raw input signal. The more your soundcard amplify the input (i.e. hardware preamp without RIAA correction), the better will be the timecode analysis

4. Connect the audio interface to your computer (USB, Firewire or PCI)

5. Turn on your audio interface

1. Go to [File > Preferences > Audio]

2. Select your audio interface from the pull down menu

3. Choose your desired sample rate and buffer size. The default settings are 44.1kHz sample rate and 512 samples of buffer

4. Select the outputs of your the audio interface

5. Select the inputs of your the audio interface

6. Select your routing mode. If you are using an external mixer, select the routing mode External Mixer.

Here is a description of the different routing modes:
Simple Stereo - The sum of the master and cue signals are routed to outputs 1/2 on your audio interface.
Dual Stereo - The master signal is routed to outputs 1/2 and the cue signal is routed to outputs 3/4 on your audio interface.
Split Mono - The master and cue signals are folded down to mono. The mono master is routed to output 1 and the mono cue is routed to output 2 on your audio interface.
External Mixer - Deck A direct out is routed to outputs 1/2 on your audio interface, and Deck B direct out is routed to outputs 3/4. For audio interfaces with more than 4 outputs, the cue out is also routed to outputs 5/6.

Check your ground wires and make sure they’re making a solid connection to either your mixer or your soundcard.

Also, be sure that the EQs on your external mixer are not up too high, as slight physical movement or tapping of the turntable may cause the waveform to move.

If you hear a rumbling sound in the background , this is a grounding problem. This happens with laptops that have a power supply with a ground connection (3-pin plugs). To correct this problem, use a ground loop isolator on the master output of your mixer.

For best performance and for use in professional situations we recommend you buy a higher spec computer.
We recommend Intel processors. We recommend to not use OSX 10.5.7 version.

• add and delete a mapping (a).

• duplicate a mapping to personalize it (b).

• import a mapping for example use a mapping posted by another user on our forum (c).

• export a mapping for example share it with other users (d).

After importing your audio tracks you can load them into the players.There are three ways of loading tracks:

With the mouse

* Drag and drop a track from the collection to one of the players.

* Right-click (CTRL+click on Mac) and select Load in Player A, B or Active.

With the keyboard

Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through your collection. Load the highlighted track into one of the players by using the Load shortcut SHIFT + Arrow left/right (Configure your shortcuts in [File > Preferences > Keyboard > Media Rack]).

With the control record

On the B-side of the control record, the last track is used for track browsing and selection. Put the needle down anywhere in this track and as the record turns it will browse through your collection. Stop the record on the desired track, lift the needle and put it back to the beginning of the record to load the track into the player.

With the control disc

Track 2 on the control CD is used for track browsing and selection. Select track 2 and press Play to browse your collection using the pitch fader. A negative pitch will scroll down and a positive pitch will scroll up. (The scrolling speed will vary with the pitch, careful not to go too fast…) Once you found the track you want to load, return the pitch to 0 to stop scrolling and select Track 1 to load it into the player.

1. Connect outputs 1/2 of your audio interface to your sound system (amplifier, powered speakers, or home stereo)

2. Connect your headphones to your audio interface’s headphone output. Audio interfaces may vary, please refer to the owner’s manual included with your audio interface for details on its headphone output

3. Connect the audio interface to your computer (USB, Firewire or PCI)

4. Turn on your audio interface

5. Connect the MIDI controller to your computer. Refer to your MIDI controller’s owner’s manual for details

6. Turn on your MIDI controller

Absolute mode:

In this mode, the playback position of the control record/disc corresponds precisely with the playback position of the audio file in the player. Use this mode when you want to use your turntable’s tonearm (or the seek function on your CD) to skip through the track. If you are using CD decks, you can use the cue and loop capabilities as well.

Relative mode:

In this mode, the playback position of the control record/disc does not correspond with the playback position of the audio file in the player. Use the Relative mode when you want to use non-linear functions like hot cues (locations) and loops. The «Automatic Control Mode Switching» preference in the Vinyl/CD preference pane allows CROSS to automatically switch to Relative mode when you set a location or a loop.

Flexible mode:

In this mode, the time code is disabled altogether, allowing you to pick up the needle or stop playback on your deck.Use the Flexible mode when you need to deactivate the external control for any reason without interrupting a mix: * when CROSS is in Relative mode, switch to Flexible to return to the beginning of the time code without interrupting your mix * CROSS will automatically switch to Flexible mode when the end of the time code is reached while a track is still playing. When in Flexible mode, clicking on the Flexible button stops playback.

Internal mode:

In this mode, use the software to control the playback independently of the control records/discs. Use this mode when you want to control the playback using the mouse & keyboard, and/or a MIDI controller.
